Parents are the first educators and often feel unsure about how to support their child in mathematics. MAWA offers ‘Maths on the go’ parent workshops for Kindy – Year 2, Year 3 – Year 6 and Year 7. Children need to see that mathematics is useful and belongs outside the classroom and that parents actively use maths every day.
During the workshop parents will be given practical and easy ways to feel confident about mathematics and support for their child. The workshops are a means to help parents understand the maths their child is doing and not to judge of parent maths knowledge.
Workshop could address resiliency and growth mindset in mathematics or helping parent understand the importance of positive messages and helping with maths concepts.
